HI THERE,
I’m Kamila, a blogger, photographer, entrepreneur, and crafter from Helen, GA. Best of all, I am a mom of three wonderful boys who keep me on my toes and provide many opportunities to be creative for them and with them. I designed Craft Vinci to help crafters like yourself navigate through the beautiful world of crafting and DIY projects. Let’s talk about crafting and using those crafts in your everyday life. People often struggle with making things, they are not sure how to start, what supplies to use, or even which advice to listen to. Google can be our friend but it also can be so overwhelming. Can you relate to this?
WHERE DO I START?
Maybe you just get overwhelmed with the different steps that are involved. Or perhaps you don’t know where to start. I get it. But when you get easy step by step instructions with a detailed supply list you are able to follow along, you can easily make beautiful items that brighten up your everyday life.
I have always been a creative individual. Making things and putting my own spin on them is my passion. I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment after completing a project, no matter how big or small it may be.
I have to, admit that for years I admired the crafty people with their DIY items. When evaluating how could I possibly recreate a similar item, the projects seemed daunting, the supply lists endless and very expensive. Who in the world has the time or budget for that? And every time I would walk away feeling defeated before I even begun. With time I learned how to craft smart, where to get nice supplies that would not break my bank, and by trial and error I started to make things with passion such as wreaths, hand painted signs, cards, decorations, and just kept expanding.
MY SCARY CRICUT
In about 2009 the Provo Craft Machine came out. Yes, I was ecstatic. I was not even sure what exactly this machine could do. Something about cutting. But it looked beautiful. After some convincing my Christmas wish came true when my husband gifted me the now dinosaur of Cricut machines. I wanted to make things, cute things, things I could use and I wanted to speed up the process with precision. The task of using the die cutter was overwhelming me just as soon as I would think about it. How exactly should I start? What do I need? Where do I get the supplies? What exactly can I make? And with the mounting questions I slid it under the bed where I stayed for 3 years. I liked using scissors, they did not require any extra learning. I remember pulling the good old Cricut out several times over the years thinking, OK, today is the day I will have a purpose for you. However, the need and the ability never came together.
PLAN DIY FOR SIGNS
While working in my real estate company, we ran out of For Sale Signs. The company making them was back ordered for weeks and since I needed to serve the sellers’ I needed my signs. I finally had a purpose for my cutting machine. Of course, over the years I have misplaced several pieces. Since I live in a rural area, I went to the closest thing I had to a craft store (Walmart) to replace my lost bits. As you may imagine, they did not have replacement parts however they did have the Cricut Explore One. This die cutter wanted to come back to the office with me. It was even $75 off the original price. So, I packed it in my shopping cart along with a few supplies and I was on my way.
MY NEW CALLING
I have been crafting with it ever since. I built a business around it. Yes, it takes a lot of research, but I have learned tips and tricks along the way that I will share with you to make your crafting journey much simpler. The best part is that you don’t have a die cutting machine to make your crafts. You can go at it like I did for years, the good old fashion way. But when you are ready to learn, I will be able to guide you each and every step along the way. So lets get crafting.
Feel free to follow me on my crafting journey. My easy to follow step by step instructions include a list of tools and supplies needed and where you can get them. Don’t forget to check out these projects on YouTube and subscribe to the channel and blog. Make sure you never miss any creative fun.
