HOW TO MAKE A HOLIDAY LANTERN WITH LIGHTS

I must admit that Christmas is my favorite time of the year.  Holidays are the perfect time to spruce up your home and show off your new creations. This is exactly why today we will be making the Holiday Lantern Centerpiece. This project is very easy to complete. The thing is that sometimes we want something to add that little bit of color and light to our table but we are tired of the same old flower centerpiece.  The good news is that when you get tired of what your piece looks like, you can take it back to bare bones and decorate it for the next season or holiday.  Lets’ go over some supplies we will need.

Lantern
Small Ornaments
– Present Ornament
– 10” Piece of Garland
– Battery Operated Lights
– Ribbon
– Pipe Cleaners
– 2 Greenery Floral Picks

Now you are ready to follow this simple process.

Step 1. We are going to start with the lantern. Open the door or top of your lantern and place your ornaments on the bottom to cover it completely.

Step 2. Bend your piece of garland in a circular shape and place it on top of the ornaments.

Step 3. Test your battery-operated lights and place them inside the lantern on top of the garland making sure the battery pack is hidden by it. You may choose to tuck in some lights around the bottom layer of your lantern.

Step 4. Carefully place your wrapped present ornament on top of the garland. You may choose to keep it in the center or off-center. Hot glue it in place for extra stability especially if you think you will want to hang your lantern.

Step 5. Next, we are moving on to decorating the top of our lantern. Take 8 pieces of 10” ribbon and while holding the ends all together we will tie them with our pipe cleaner or floral wire. Once tied, you need to fluff out your ribbon to your liking.

Step 6. We are taking our two floral picks and while holding them end to end (metal portion) and overlapping at least half of an inch, we will tie them together with pipe cleaners.

Step 7. Attach your bow to the greenery picks with pipe cleaners.

Step 8. Attach your bow to the top of your lantern. You may choose to tie it on with pipe cleaners or hot glue.

Step 9. Turn on the lights and enjoy your beautiful holiday lantern centerpiece.

Now you are ready to display your piece inside your home or gift it to someone special.  You may even choose to add your own touch to this lantern and substitute some of the pieces.  And that is absolutely a great idea. Make it your own so you can enjoy it.
